We’ve all had our hearts broken, or just broken everyone else’s if we’re lucky, but there’s more to it than just a terrible text, conversation or being ghosted. The way we handle breakups as mature adults (because breaking up in grade school comes with a lot more input of our friends and families) can be decoded based on your zodiac sign. 1. Saggitarius (November 22-December 21)
Instead of breaking up right away, a Sagittarius will have the guts/balls/spine whatever to suggest an open relationship. Letting go is hard for a Sag though they are the first to find polygamy as something normal and acceptable, so it can be the longest most tumultuous breakup of your life.
A newly single Sag needs nothing other than to get strobe-lit and dance until the break of dawn.
2. Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Capricorns work hard in their career and relationships, equally, so if there’s any inkling their partner may leave, they try to talk things out to retain peace. A loyal Capricorn, however, will not stand dishonesty from their partner, so if a partner cheats or becomes poisonous to them, the Cap will ice out their partner instantly.
Broken hearted, Cappy? Take that Type A energy and mentor someone. You need a new sense of purpose and something to distract you until you can see clearly again.
3. Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
If you’re an Aquarius, you tend to be a little manipulative with your lovers (c’mon you can admit it). So, when it comes to a breakup, you’ll take a longer, more roundabout route to persuade your partner to do the breaking up part. You’re always seeking greener pastures, so it’s super likely you’ll facilitate a breakup so you can move on to the next guy.

4. Pisces (February 19-March 20)
The Pisces is a daydreamer who may expect their partner to deliver on things they may not even be capable of. However, if a fish is really into their partner they will channel those needs into their passions or career. If the partner isn’t really worth it in their book, they have no problem just dropping a relationship they think isn’t all that great and vanish completely.
As a heartbroken Pisces, you’ll want to get sad on Rom Coms for a few weeks. And that’s OK, you do you girl.
5. Aries (March 21-April 19)
An Aries wants what they want, right when they want it. This means that an Aries will drop their lover like a hot potato, take a few laps around the block (and in and out of a few beds) and come circling back once they realize they can’t expect just anyone to fulfill all of their needs.
If you are a newly single Aries, take a crazy trip all alone to regroup.
6. Taurus (April 20-May 20)
The stubborn bull, Taurus won’t make a sudden decision to leave their partner, but when enough is enough they will not look back. It takes some time for a Taurus to detach and heal. Also, beware of the Taurean stalking tendencies on social media.
If you’re a broken hearted Taurus, TREAT YO SELF to some new, chic, designer clothes.
7. Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Dear Gemini, you’re known for playing both sides and being kind of two-faced. A Gemini will seem truly content in a relationship but suddenly drops her dude or vice versa. Though it may seem like these relationship decisions are committed on a whim, they aren’t. A true Gem will have a plan B in case the person they’re dating leaves them, or will marry their career.
A single Gemini is just as hot as a taken Gemini. Get a cool haircut, revamp your makeup routine and slay.
8. Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Crabs need love, love, love showered on them at all times. If a Cancer isn’t feeling adequate, they may become extremely hurtful towards their partner and can resort to blackmail, and on the other side of the coin, they can become overly jealous or clingy. They have no problem burning bridges to seek out a new partner and reality takes a hot minute to sink in.
A newly lonely Cancer needs some therapy. Literally. Go see someone who will help you with that deeeeeep emotional scarring.
9. Leo (July 23-August 22)
A Leo is known for being headstrong and for valuing themselves a bit higher than their partner in a relationship. This means hissy fits and a diva attitude are the norm, however, if their lover decides to leave them they know they’ll come back eventually – can their ego be any bigger?
If you’re a Leo recently riding solo, get a new lover to worship you and build you back up.
10. Virgo (August 23-September 22)
A Virgo will try to keep the relationship together by putting in hard work, but if the relationship brings them more losses than gains, all bets are off. Instead of finding a new lover right away, a Virgo will turn to work to fill that emotional void.
A sad Virgo is a creative Virgo. Get involved in a new passion project you can organize, and get it done your way!
11. Libra (September 23-October 22)
For a Libra, a relationship is a social experience. Instead of breaking up and becoming embarrassed, they’d prefer to change their partner’s mind and fall in love all over again. If it doesn’t work out, they’re more than open to moving on and finding another person to love them – which is pretty easy because they’re lovable people.
If you’re a Libra who just got ditched, get a pet you can get love drunk on while you recover.
12. Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
A Scorpio is a devious lover to even consider breaking up with. They swell with emotions, so they can love the heck out of you and also hate you deeply. They’re no stranger to plotting against their exes, as they prefer to be the master of the relationship and need complete devotion.
If you’re a sad, sad, Scorpio, get over that dude by getting under another one or ten.
