It seems like nearly every household has at least one piece of CorningWare cookware. If you’re unsure what I’m talking about, think back to the casserole dishes decorated with a cornflower blue pattern or the one decorated with a spread of mushrooms, artichokes, peppers, and tomatoes that you saw in your grandmother’s kitchen. Yes, those ones.

The dishes, which were made of a unique glass-ceramic material that made them resistant to thermal shock, were introduced in 1958 and quickly became a popular wedding gift.

Did someone die and their Corning ended up at Value Village? I couldn’t imagine why there is so much today!

Now, decades later they have stood the test of time and people want to get their hands on quality CorningWare dishes because like the saying goes, “they don’t make them like they used to.”

While CorningWare does still sell their famous cookware, it’s the vintage dishes that everyone is after. And unless you have a relative who is looking to get rid of their old pieces, you’ll have to look online.

I love my Corningware! So easy to cook, serve and store! I use the chalk marker to label my leftovers. The good news is that there are a lot of vintage CorningWare dishes for sale on eBay. The bad news–for buyers–is if you’re looking for a super rare piece you have to be willing to fork over a pretty penny.

There are several listings that are well over $12,000 and many over $20,000!

If you’re someone who is looking to sell your CorningWare, while it might be wishful thinking that you could get $25,000 for your “Spice of Life” bakeware, it is possible to get a few hundred dollars.

A small dish recently sold on eBay for $350.

“Collecting is often what you remember, which is why this is big now because baby boomers are buying back what they grew up with,” glass expert Dean Six told That’s Life. “Boomers are decorating with these pieces in their homes.”
