In terms of sleep, according to scientists – the human body needs to sleep in a total darkness. When the sun rises and light appears, the light receptors in the retina send us a signal that it is time for awakening and prevent the creation of melatonin (sleep hormone) in the body.

The situation is reversed when it gets dark. Then the body gets the signal that it is time for sleep and encourages us to sleep discharging melatonin. If you are exposed to excessive light in that moment, like the one of the television, then you will have a restless sleep, since the light interferes with the basic body functions, the circadian rhythm and with the entry into the stage of sleep in which you can best relax.

This leads to a feeling of sleepiness, bad mood and anxiety when you wake up.

The same goes for sleeping when the computer is on or there are dimmed lights-neurological researches have shown that both leads to a bad mood, therefore, try to resolve these bad habits. If you still can not sleep without the TV, be sure to set it on ‘sleep’ at a certain time of the night to minimize the consequences of bad dream.
