Man Asks If He Is Wrong For Not Telling His Ex-Wife About Rental Apartment

Greedy people always assume without knowing the whole truth. Visible_Power1771 A Reddit member, his girlfriend, and friends rented an apartment with two bedrooms in 2008. The owner moved abroad and trusted him to manage everything.

His friend moved out after some time and since then he and his girlfriend lived there alone. The rent was also affordable, so that wasn’t the problem. But after his relationship ended he lived there all alone. The owner trusted him so he continued paying rent to the owner directly.

Later in 2020, he met a woman. She was eager to marry. So, they got married in 2021. Throughout their marriage, he never mentioned to his wife this apartment was a rental. Because it never seems relevant to him. Since he handled all the responsibilities he sometimes referred to it as “his place”.

However, after some time, their marriage wasn’t working well. They decided to get divorced. All the time she thought that he owned the apartment. So one day, she sent him a real estate evaluation and demanded he pay the half. OP was shocked. He asked her did he ever mentioned he owned the apartment. He told her that it was a rental apartment, not their property. His wife accused him of lying about the rental apartment.

Then she demanded the car, but it was on the lease, so, technically the bank was the owner, not them.

She tells their friends that he deceived her by not telling her the truth. Some sided with her, but some understood the OP’s point of view. Now OP is asking if he is wrong for not telling her earlier.
