Families play a vital role in our lives. They give us the love, support, and strength we need. It hurts so deeply when family members mistreat you or do not care about you. It makes you feel like you don’t belong with them. It makes you feel alone. So, feeling rejected by your own family members can be very painful.
Reddit user GreenImplement6462, a 24-year-old man, experienced this pain growing up with his two older sisters, Sarah and Liv. Although they were very close, they always treated him badly. They always excluded him and said mean things, like boys are gross, and wished that they didn’t have a brother. They expressed their desire that they did not want him around.
All this hurt him so much, but their parents encouraged him to find his own friends and hobbies to deal with the situation. They were very concerned and tried therapy also.
Growing up, nothing changed. Sarah and Liv didn’t even include him in their major events, like their wedding ceremonies and the births of their babies.
Now that both of his sisters want to work, they need a babysitter. They asked him to babysit, claiming that he should help them because he’s family. But GreenImplement6462 was frustrated by the years of cruelty and neglect he refused. He told them to take care of their own kids. Both his sisters accused him of being rude. His sisters were very upset, but he didn’t change his mind, because they had treated him very badly for a long time.
