Is It Wrong For Not Giving Up My Bed For My Girlfriend’s Cousin

Sometimes we experience some disagreements when we live in a relationship. A Reddit user throwrasleeponsofa found himself in a tricky situation when his girlfriend invited her cousin to stay with them.

OP and his girlfriend lived in a small apartment.  The apartment had 2 rooms only, and the second room was too small for a bed. OP used that room as his office because he worked from home.

On one weekend they made a plan to go out for dinner and cinema. His GF invited her cousin for the night out. OP was completely okay with it.  The plan was simple, pick up the GF’s cousin, eat the food, watch a movie at the cinema, and then drop her back home.

After the movie, OP’s GF asked her cousin if she wanted to stay with them. Her cousin agreed. Her cousin was 17 years old. Then she wondered OP if he could sleep on the sofa. She wanted that her cousin should sleep on the bed. He said her cousin could sleep on the couch, but her GF got annoyed. She said her cousin was a guest and that is why she should take the bed. OP disagreed. He said it was her idea to invite her cousin to stay with them. So he will not give his bed.

His GF thought he was being rude and unreasonable. But OP refused to change his mind.

6. NTA the cousin could sleep on the sofa. If GF is so worried, she might also sleep with her. A person should not be forced to leave their own bed.

Via GoblinKing79:

7. OP is not wrong. The cousin could have slept on the sofa.

8. NTA giving up the bed needs agreement from both sides.

9. It’s not OP’s fault. When staying at someone’s home it’s fine to sleep on the couch, instead of taking someone’s bed.

10. OP is right. He didn’t invite the guest. His girlfriend should have discussed it with him before making the decision.
