If You’re Not Feeling These 12 Things, It Isn’t True Love
1. Romantic Love
This is the one that gives you butterflies in your stomach; one that makes you believe in sunsets and happiness-always-on those days. You feel on top of the world when your love is returned, and it falls into the depths if it feels like your love is threatened.
2. The desire to merge
We want to merge our bodies, minds and spirits. It is about wanting to share our hearts, souls, atoms, and electrons. We want to lose ourselves and find the divine.
3. It is us against the world
We are now part of a pair. We feel the power of two and the joy of being us. There is nothing that can beat you as long as you are together.
4. Desire to create
You will want to do things together. Couples often adopt pets, or build something, together. Of course, this is also the psychology behind having children. You will want to have more things you own together with the person you love.
The honeymoon time comes to an end. Disillusionment sets in. Our partner seems to change. They are not who we thought they were, and they are not giving us what we wish we had. But that is as much a part of love as all wonderful things are. You can’t have the good without the bad.
When we become disillusioned with our partner, we often feel that we have become incompatible. It is important to go through this phase, because in most cases, it passes.
7. Finding out how you get hurt
As we look away from our partner, we are forced to look inward. We feel the pain of trauma that we all felt growing up. We recognize that we expected our partner to make us whole. We were looking for love in all the wrong places.
8. Embracing the disease
When this happens to you in a relationship, it tells you a lot about your SO. You’ll notice how they take care of you, stay concerned about you, control you, and try to make your life easier.
But if you can’t handle your partner in illness, it’s one of the signs that you’re not in love.
9. Learn true mathematical love and addictive love
The longer we are together, the smaller we become. When we look to our partner to help us heal and grow, we are on the path to true love. Mathematics is 1 + 1 = Infinity.
10. Turn to our lover and commit to being real
Being real is not sweetness and light. It is passionate, painful and creative – much like making a baby and giving birth. Being real requires being part of a pair. Self-actualization is not something we do alone.
11. Letting go of fear
You are no longer scared, or unsure. You trust each other completely, and don’t doubt each other unnecessarily. Somewhere, deep down, they are sure that this is forever, and they don’t ask if they will ever let go.
12. Accepting that real and lasting love is a journey, not a destination
You will grow and learn along the way. It never stops forever. It is the most enjoyable ride you will ever sign up for, and although it may get bumpy from time to time, it will continue to give you treats. Are you ready for the ride?
