Holy Crap, This Woman Gave Birth in the ER Hallway and Her Caught It All!

Holy Crap, This Woman Gave Birth in the ER Hallway and Her Caught It All!

A Kansas mother of five delivered her sixth child in the hallway just inside the emergency room entrance of her local hospital, and it was captured in stunning images by her birth photographer.

She gave birth in hospital, as intended.

Except her baby didn’t pop out in a suite while she rested in bed, but in the hospital hallway, just a few steps from the entrance.

Max took a while to come out. After days of contractions, causing worries that Jes would need to be induced, Max chose his moment to emerge into the world. Jes and her husband, Travis, had to rush to the hospital, letting Karin, their birth photographer, know what was happening on the way.

Jes felt that her pregnancy with her sixth baby, the family’s first boy, was unpredictable from the beginning — and her instincts were spot-on!

Although she began experiencing contractions on July 19, 2017, they didn’t progress much, so she labored at home, enduring contractions until they got more frequent and painful, in the early morning hours of July 24, when her water broke.

Feeling panicked that she wouldn’t make it to the hospital on time for Max’s birth, Jes got into the car barefoot with her husband Travis, and texted her birth photographer, Tammy Karin.

Once the couple made it to the hospital, Travis ran to the ER to get help as Hogan made her way out of the car—to her surprise, Karin showed up just in time, to help her through the hospital doors.

As they made their way inside, it quickly became apparent to Hogan that her baby wasn’t going to wait any longer. As she stood just inside the emergency room entrance, she could feel the baby boy’s head coming out.

‘I said something to the effect of, “oh god, he’s here”,’ says Jes. ‘I then started to take my pants off because I could feel my body pushing the baby’s head out.

‘I reached down and could feel his head crowning with my hand. I looked at my husband and said, “Travis catch him!”’

Thankfully Jes’s birth photographer, Tammy Karin of Little Leapling Photography, arrived in time to capture every moment.

She started photographing as the nurses came rushing down the hall to help, easing Jes on to the floor and supporting the baby’s head as he came out.

One nurse gently removed the cord that was loosely around little Max’s neck, and then with one more push, the rest of him come out.

Her son was born right on the hospital floor just 25 minutes after her water broke at home.

“It was my craziest birth, but also, the most perfect,” Jes wrote. “It was not at all what I had planned, but it ended without any intervention, with a healthy baby, and amazing support people by our sides. It was beautiful and I’ll forever love every memory of it.”
